This pin is signed Alva Studios, a company that specialized in producing museum reproductions, in figurines as well as in jewelry pieces. This one is a strange looking monkey-like creature with sort of a piggy snout, who appears to be sitting on its own tail. The body of the figure is 3-dimensional, making it look ready to leap from tree to tree.
This figural design is done in gilded brass, with a great patina in excellent condition. It's marked Alva Studios on an applied plate and has a secure safety clasp. Size is 2 x 2 1/4 inches and is asymmetrical in form. |
