Fine Basse-Taile enamel sash pin, probably late 1800s
vintage, in gilt brass with extremely fine enamel work. The brooch has
soft, curving lines with theborders of brass with engraving at the
corners. The frame has deep green enamel over finely etched background.
The center is an applied autumn Maple leaf showing the changing colors of
the fall season.
This enamelled sash pin is in excellent condition with the exception of
a small hairline just below the tip of the leaf, visible on close
inspection. This Victorian brooch has the older 'C' clasp and heavy pin
stem, measuring 2 3/4 x 1 5/8 inches, gently domed to give a nice,
dimensional look.
